New Children's Dance Instructor!
Meet Taylor Dunn, our new Children's Dance Instructor!
Taylor has danced for many years and her favorite type of
dance is ballet. She has had many opportunities to perform,
compete, and teach a variety of dance classes throughout her
life. She has taught a wide age range from pre-school to high
school students. Her joy in life is represented on the dance
floor. Taylor has a fun personality and will get your child to
express themselves and have a great time. Taylor cannot wait to
share her joy of ballet and creative dance with your child.
On a personal note, she is getting married this June to a Cal Poly student and they are establishing their home here on the Central Coast. We are fortunate to have someone with her talent and maturity as an instructor. Questions? Call Taylor, 712-6250. View a list of Taylor's classes and register online!

A Message from Julie Dahlen
Director - Library and Recreation Services
"One
of the virtues of being very young is that you don't
let the facts get in the way of your imagination."
- Sam Levenson
First birthday celebrations generate a myriad of emotions.
Exhaustion, awe at the birthday baby’s milestones, and visions of future accomplishments are as much a part of the occasion as cupcakes and balloons.
This Activity Guide marks my first year as Interim Director of Library and Recreation Services for the City of Paso Robles, not quite the same occasion as my own first birthday (note the vintage photo) or those of my two children, but reason to celebrate, nonetheless.
The year began with the rebirth of the department itself. The hard facts of a troubled economy and a City hiring freeze did not discourage us. Instead, City staff allowed our imagination to take flight, exploring innovative ways of continuing to provide quality recreation and library experiences in Paso Robles. In true "it-takes-a-village" spirit, Paso Roblans stepped up to conduct adult softball, youth T-ball, and adult volleyball. Staffing our summer Concerts in the Park would have been a daunting task were it not for a huge volunteer effort from JLohr Vineyards and Firestone Walker Brewery Company. Long-time City collaborators such as the YMCA, REC and Library Foundations, Friends of the Library, and the Youth Sports Council rose to the occasion as well, providing expertise, "elbow grease" and financial support to keep the LRS "baby" on its feet.
As we welcome 2012, Library and Recreation staff will continue to learn, to grow and to explore what can be, no matter the challenges ahead. Thank you, Paso Robles, for your support along the way.
-Julie
