INCOME LEVELS
The federal and state governments define income levels for determining eligibility for their funding programs. Income levels are indexed to Countys Median Income* and are adjusted for the number of persons residing in a household. Income levels are updated annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
*The Median Income is the income earned by that household where 50% of households in the County earn more than the median amount, and 50% earn less.
- "Extremely low income" is defined as a household earning 30%
or less of the County's Median Income.
- Very low income is defined as a household earning 50% or less of the Countys
Median Income.
- Low income is defined as a household earning 80% or less of the Countys
Median Income.
- Moderate income is defined as a household earning 81-120% of the County Median Income.
