"The Paso Robles Library Foundation, staff and Library users owe a great debt of gratitude to Heritage Oaks Bank for its generosity," stated Library and Recreation Services Director Julie Dahlen. "In the 13 years since the inception of its Family Fun Day and Fun Run, Heritage Oaks Bank has donated well over $50,000 to the Library Foundation, clearly recognizing the value of a strong public library to our community."
As in previous years, race funds will be used to purchase books and materials and to help support library programming. For more information about the Paso Robles Library Foundation, visit www.prlibraryfoundation.org.
Library Volunteer of the Year 2011
Library Volunteer Bill Dupree was honored as the Library Volunteer of the Year 2011 at the Paso Robles City Library’s annual volunteer reception.
Bill
began his service to the Library in May 2007 as a
member of the computer crew and has not only stayed
on in that position but has taken on a number of
other important duties. Because of his flexibility
in tasks, he has learned many of the reference
desk’s duties and his willingness to step in when
called upon has been invaluable. More importantly,
Bill has provided hundreds of hours of computer
assistance for patrons and fellow volunteers since
the Library automated its public computer
reservation system.
"This is the 10th year the Library has presented a Library Volunteer of the Year Award and we couldn’t be happier to award it this year to Bill," said Library Manager Karen Christiansen. Previous winners are Jean Schubert, 2002; Janine Kramer, 2003; Audrey Krauss 2004; Ann Martinez, 2005; Denise Surber, 2006; Joan Case, 2007; Mike Reagan, 2008; Cappy Culver, 2009; and Nan Madding, 2010. Bill’s name has been added to the perpetual plaque in the Library.
The annual volunteer reception recognizes the 130 Library volunteers and the 16,000- plus hours they contribute each year in pursuit of excellence in library service.
For more information about volunteering in the City Library, please call Volunteer Coordinator Suzanne Robitaille, 237-3870.
