TRASH & RECYCLING OVERVIEW

The City of Paso Robles owns a landfill and franchises for solid waste (trash) collection and recycling services within the city limits. All solid waste services for the City are provided by contract with private firms—Paso Robles Waste Disposal is the sole franchise collection company; and Pacific Waste Services operates the city-owned landfill. Recycling services, including curbside residential collection (green waste and cans/bottles/paper) as well as commercial collection (segregated cardboard, bottles) are provided by Paso Robles Waste Disposal. Paso Robles Waste Disposal also provides all roll-off services in the City.

In July 2002, the City joined the regional Integrated Waste Management Authority (IWMA) of San Luis Obispo County. The IWMA provides City residents with many solid waste benefits, including: educational programs, community outreach, household hazardous waste drop-off centers, household motor oil drop-off and curbside collection service, regional recycling programs assistance, and relationships with state regulatory agencies.
