A Message from Julie Dahlen

Director - Library and Recreation Services

Julie DahlenContrary to a popular adage, sometimes the best gifts come in very large packages. Case in point: our beautiful new Uptown Family Park at Oak and 36th streets, featured proudly on the cover of this Activity Guide. The park was completed just before the end of 2014, as we bid adieu to our city's quasquicentennial celebration. What a fitting gift for our 125th!

The Uptown Family Park represents the can-do spirit that has characterized Paso Roblans since our 1889 incorporation as a city. Over five years ago, Annie Robb, my predecessor as Library and Recreation Services Director, secured a $2.5 million grant to fund park construction. The subsequent work of several City staff, local elementary school students, neighborhood families and a variety of community volunteers enabled us to complete this park during a significant economic recession - a feat that can be looked upon with pride by all Paso Roblans.

And so, I wish a final "happy quasquicentennial" to our great city - with great expectations for what the next 125 years will bring!
