Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Community Gallery a
Success!
For the first time ever, our Library Recreation Services
Department, in partnership with civic leaders, church
groups, and the local high school, sponsored a march and
community gallery on Sunday, January 20, commemorating the
powerful vision and message of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Led by the Paso Robles High School Band, participants marched to the City Library for a reception and viewing of works expressing Martin Luther King, Jr’s message of embracing diversity. The Paso Robles High School students were a key part of the day, being represented by members of the Black Student Union; drama, dance and music students; and leaders from the Youth Commission and the campus leadership class. Other presenters displayed their talents in the form of art, music, dance, and various readings of Dr. King’s writings or of their own original work. The event was so well-received that it will undoubtedly become an annual event. Click on an image below to enlarge:
