Barney Schwartz Shade Structure Dedication

Some like it hot, but many like it cool! Paso Robles summers can get as hot as 115 degrees, and having shade can be critical. Recognizing this, a non profit foundation known as the REC Foundation (Recreation Enhances Community Foundation) has committed to providing shade in Paso Robles public recreation areas for several years.
The Foundation has funded the acquisition of shade structures at both Centennial and Municipal pools. Most recently, the Foundation provided additional structures at Centennial Pool, and over all of the bleachers in the softball complex at Barney Schwartz Park. A generous gift from the estate of Dale Schwartz enabled the Foundation to purchase and have the shade structures installed at Barney Schwartz Park completely without City taxpayer involvement.
A short celebratory party recognizing the Schwartz family and REC Foundation’s role in providing the shade structures was held in the middle of the softball complex of Barney Schwartz Park on Monday, May 19. The public and media were invited to attend. Images from this event can be viewed below. Click on the smaller images to enlarge.
