BACKGROUND

Prompted by a legal challenge that alleges our current City Council election system violates the California Voting Rights Act of 2002, the City of Paso Robles is transitioning from the current at-large system of electing the City Council to a by-district election model.

The City would be divided into 4 voting districts, each district represented by one City Council member from that district. The Mayor's position would remain at-large.

The City is requesting the assistance of interested Paso Robles residents in designing proposed boundary maps for each district.

Residents are being asked to review the materials below and submit draft boundary maps via the Draw Paso Robles website by March 1, 2019.
