Mission Statement

We are dedicated to protecting your quality of life through exceptional public service and interactive community engagement.

"OUR MISSION IS YOU"

Core Values

  • We recognize the value in each member of our community and organization.
  • The foundation of our organization will be reflected through our actions, appearance and attitude.
  • We will have the courage and humility to hold ourselves and others accountable.

Culture

Being a member of the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services requires constant attention to the way we treat other members and the people we serve. It also means that we continuously strive to improve the services we offer.

Respecting All Contributions

The cornerstone of our beliefs begins with respecting each person's contribution to our organization or community, regardless of his or her political strength, personal appearance, economic status, skin color, cultural heritage or religious beliefs.

Because each of the city's fire stations is an "open house" that is ready to welcome our citizens, we work to demonstrate appreciation, patience, support and tolerance in everything we do.

Dealing with Conflict & Working Together

Conflict within the organization or community is investigated thoroughly and viewed as an organizational "injury" that needs healing. We then take preventive measures to ensure it doesn't happen again. We look at mistakes not as failures, but as opportunities to improve.

Celebrating Success

As members, we are responsible for our own lives and what we make of them. We celebrate the success of others. When we see an opportunity to assist someone, we offer before we are asked. Helping one another is the norm, not the exception.

Working Cohesively

Working together as a cohesive unit brings forth accomplishments that make our job fun. The department's "win-win" philosophy is the common denominator for tackling problems and creating solutions. We pride ourselves on our professional demeanor and response to any incident, minor injury or major disaster.

Mutual Aid Agreements

Emergency Services has automatic and mutual aid contractual agreements with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the other surrounding municipal departments for emergency response to these areas.

The city and these districts provide a clearly defined response plan for dispatching the nearest fire and EMS personnel and equipment to an emergency.
