Be Well Paso Weekly Challenge

Today we begin a few more weeks of the Be Well Paso Weekly Challenge! As stay-at-home orders evolve, we’ll continue to help you stay fit, productive, connected, and positive.

JUST FOR FUN - We’ve all heard the popular saying "Laughter is the best medicine." Most psychologists agree that humor helps people take back their sense of power in a powerless situation and it helps them connect with others. 

LET’S MOVE - Over the past four weeks, you sampled a variety of exercises. Hopefully, you’ve incorporated many of them into your daily life. Over the next few weeks, we’ll turn you on to a few new ones and reintroduce you to a few of our favorites.

WHAT TO DO - In case you’ve run out of things to do, we’ll offer you some fresh ideas.

IT’S ALL GOOD - When things get tough, many people turn to a motivational quote for a bit of inspiration. Quotes have the power to inspire and encourage. Whenever you feel low, unhappy, or lacking motivation, read attentively a few quotes, and you will see how your mood and state of mind begin to improve. 

Day 1

JUST FOR FUN - "Sorry, I’m practicing social distancing" is about to be the most popular break up text in 2020. 

LET’S MOVE - Knee Exercises.

WHAT TO DO - Livestream the Northern Lights.

Day 2

JUST FOR FUN - I ran out of toilet paper and had to start using old newspapers. Times are rough. 

LET’S MOVE - Enjoy this 30-minute yoga for balance video with Paso Robles 50+ Yoga instructor Debbie Stevens. 

WHAT TO DO - Try a podcast.

Day 3

JUST FOR FUN - I just did twenty minutes of phys ed exercises with my fourth grader. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in my memory.

LET’S MOVE - This exercise helps increase the range of motion in your thumbs, which helps with activities like picking up your toothbrush, fork and spoon, and pens when you write. Hold your hand out in front of you, with your wrist straight. Gently touch your thumb to each of your four fingertips, one at a time, making the shape of an "O." Hold each stretch for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat at least four times on each hand.  

WHAT TO DO - Enjoy Cirque du Soleil.

Day 4

JUST FOR FUN - All the kids who’ve been trained in Common Core math are about the learn the technique called "Carry the One" from their new homeschool teacher. 

LET’S MOVE - Standing Pilates for Seniors- 30 minutes of exercise to Improve Strength & Build Confidence. 

WHAT TO DO - Tour the greatest national parks.Yosemite

Day 5

JUST FOR FUN -Tip for couples working from home together: Get yourselves an imaginary coworker to blame things on. 

LET’S MOVE - This is a 20 minute workout led by Fitness Instructor, Jenny McClendon, MS, PT - great for beginners and seniors. No equipment needed. Easy to follow! Enjoy your workout! 

WHAT TO DO - Play Pictionary with a robot

Day 6

JUST FOR FUN - I’m not talking to myself. I’m having a Parent/Teacher Conference.  

LET’S MOVE - Tai Chi Chuan is a slow moving internal martial art that helps improve our balance and health in many ways.

WHAT TO DO - Watch a Muppet movie.
