(Paso Robles, CA, May 9, 2019) There is a new mural in downtown Paso Robles, on the side of the building at 625 12th Street, which can be seen from the corner of 12th and Spring looking west.
The mural depicts the historic T & D Theatre that was once located on the site of the building the mural now graces with a large crowd waiting beneath the marquee advertising two films: "Times of Their Lives" and "Strange Journey".
T & D Theatres were once a thriving chain in California. The Paso Robles T & D Theatre was opened in November 1930 and was designed by San Francisco architect Albert H. Larsen. It was closed by the Fox Theaters chain in 1955, and demolished in February 1957.
The mural was designed and installed by artist Steve Kalar and the site was provided by property owners Phillip and Lorraine Cagliero.
The installation of the mural was made possible by Phillip and Lorraine Cagliero, Steve Kalar, Robert and Paula Phillips, Ty Christianson, Lou Esposito and the Downtown Paso Robles Main Street Associations’ Design Committee.
