[ARCHIVED] Lowe's donates smoke detectors for community safety

A generous donation from a local Lowe’s store has allowed the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services to continue an important community outreach program.

Through this program, seniors and low-income citizens are able to obtain a working smoke detector when their detectors fail. After the department’s supply of detectors ran out, Fire Chief, Jonathan Stornetta said the department was no longer able to provide them to the community, thereby eliminating a life-saving service.

The department contacted Lowe’s Store Manager, Eric Locke, and he agreed to partner with the fire department. Locke was able to support the donation of 50 combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors through Lowe’s community outreach funds and added, “We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity to participate in this program.”

Chief Stornetta said that the smoke/carbon monoxide detector program is part of the departments focus on being community-oriented by proactively supporting public safety. Stornetta said the department will have detectors available to those in need throughout the next year.
