Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services, San Luis Ambulance and the Paso Robles Police Department responded to the Daniel Lewis Middle School at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 24th.
The initial call to 911 was for the report of a student exhibiting medical symptoms of an unknown nature. In total, 9 students were evaluated for symptoms that resulted from inhaling an unknown substance from a vape pen.
Per County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department EMSA Policy #210 a Level 1 Multi Casualty Incident (MCI) was declared.
All patients were triaged according to EMSA guidelines and were eventually released back to parents or school officials with one patient being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
