Paso Robles City Library Coronavirus Action Plan

Paso Robles City Library Coronavirus Action Plan

The library is taking the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously, while simultaneously providing services and programs to the public. We are working closely with city and county authorities to keep our community better informed. While we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the County of San Luis Obispo, we are adhering to the guidelines provided by the Governor and the County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Health.

Library Services and Hours
The Paso Robles City Library remains open.  We will provide access to materials for check out, computer access, and wi-fi.   However, other services will be limited:

  • Effective Monday, March 16th all library sponsored programs will be suspended through March 31st.  We will look for ways to offer virtual programming that may include book discussions and story times.  More information will be provided on our website and on our Facebook page.
  • The Friends of the Library Gift Shop will be closed through March 31
  • We are unable to accept donations of books and other materials
  • The Library Study Center located at 3600 Oak Street will be closed through April 13th in conjunction with the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District’s closure.

Library Facility
Keeping you safe is our priority. We are regularly disinfecting high-touch surfaces in public areas. In addition, we are taking extra precautions such as:

  • Providing hand sanitizer and tissue at all service points
  • Providing access to alcohol wipes for computer keyboards
  • Removing access to toys, puzzles, and games
  • Encouraging social distancing of at least 6 ft at our service desks and at public computer stations

Digital Resources
You can continue to enjoy library services with digital access. The library’s robust digital services give cardholders 24/7 free access to ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies and more.

How can you help?

Stay healthy. The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Health advises you to take everyday precautions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, like the flu and COVID-19:

  • Get your flu shot to protect against flu, which can produce symptoms similar to novel coronavirus.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or in your elbow.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick and avoid contact with others.
  • If you’re sick with a contagious illness, call your health care provider or clinic before you arrive. They will provide you with special arrival instructions to avoid infecting others.
  • Don’t go to the emergency room unless you have a medical emergency.
  • Think twice about travel to other countries where community spread is present. See CDC travel advisories.
