[ARCHIVED] Update: River Fire

Paso Robles River Fire Evacuation Area 1600 6-22-2020 (THUMB)

Evacuations are still in place after a fire broke out near the Salinas Riverbed earlier this today. The fire started at 1:55pm, jumped South River Rd in the Capitol Hill neighborhood prompting the evacuation of 559 residences and spreading across 7 acres.

Currently, the fire is estimated to be 10% contained and forward progress has been stopped. 2 homes were destroyed, and 4 additional homes have been badly damaged. 

Remaining street closures include River Rd closed from Creston to Navajo, Creston Rd closed from River Rd to the west entrance to Ferro Ln, Capitol Hill, Elm Ct and Almond St are totally closed off. Street closures are expected to last through the night. PG&E has reported a power outage in the area with 2300 affected customers. 6-8 hours are estimated for restoration. The evacuation order has been updated to include the reduced area bound by the current street closures and effects 98 households. The evacuation center will remain open through the night at the Paso Robles Senior Center, 270 Scott Street. The North County Animal Hospital is able to assist with animal evacuations and can be reached at (805) 238-5882. 

 

Las evacuaciones siguen en lugar después de que empezó un incendio cerca del río Salinas esta tarde.

El incendio que comenzó a la 1:55 p. m., saltó South River Road en el vecindario de Capitol Hill, lo que provocó la evacuación de 559 residencias y se extendió a través de 7 acres. Actualmente, se estima que el incendio está contenido por un 10% y se ha detenido el progreso hacia adelante. 2 casas fueron destruidas, y 4 casas adicionales han sido gravemente dañadas.

Los cierres de calles incluyen River Rd cerrado de Creston a Navajo Rd, Creston Rd cerrado desde River Rd hasta la entrada oeste de Ferro Ln, Capitol Hill, Elm Ct y Almond St están totalmente cerrados. Se espera que los cierres de calles duren toda la noche.
