Residents should be prepared for heavy rains and potential flooding. Pre-emptive road closures planned. Sand is available for sandbags.

Paso Robles, CA. March 13, 2023, 5:00PM – The City of Paso Robles remains on alert for storms forecasted beginning early Tuesday, March 14th and continuing into Wednesday. The National Weather Service is predicting the Salinas River will reach flood stage late Tuesday afternoon or evening. A local declaration of emergency remains in place, with City staff and resources prepared to respond to issues as they arise.  It is strongly advised to avoid driving through, entering, or playing in moving water at all times. Please note the following:

Evacuation Warning Info:

Residents and businesses at the following addresses remain under an evacuation warning:

  • 70 through 84 Navajo Avenue 
  • 406 and 390 Paso Robles Street 
  • 3700 and 3730 Spring Street 
  • 1509 through 1911 North River Road 

Road Closures and Safety Measures:

  • All roads are currently open inside city limits. Please follow City social media channels for updates. Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor or check the Live Map of street closures.  
  • The City has sand available for anyone wishing to make sandbags to protect private property. Sand can be found at the City Streets Yard located at 1220 Paso Robles Street. A shovel is onsite, but please bring your own sandbags as they are not available on site. If you need sandbags, as of 7:30AM on 3/9/23, they are available at: Farm Supply, Home Depot, Kritz Excavation, Lowes, Miner’s Ace Hardware, Site One Landscaping and Steve Schmidt Topsoil. 
  • Police and Fire personnel continue to advise individuals within the Salinas riverbed to relocate to higher ground. 
  • Staff and equipment are in place and prepared to mobilize as conditions dictate. 

City Services:

  • All activities at the Senior Center, morning Recreation classes and Library Story Times are cancelled for Tuesday, March 14. 
  • Will monitor weather to determine if afternoon Recreation classes will take place. 
  • The library remains open.
  • The Library Study Center at 3600 Oak Street is open
  • YMCA activities will take place.

Care and Shelter:

  • A warming centers for the unhoused will be open on March 13 and 14 at Paso Nazarene Church (530 12th St). Doors open at 6:00PM and dinner will be served

Prepare and Protect:

  • All residents living in an area prone to flooding should have a plan in place on where you will go if you need to evacuate. Plan for your pets and any medication or items you need to bring with you. 
  • It is strongly advised to avoid driving through, entering, or playing in moving water at all times. 
  • During major storm events, public safety resources are in high demand, avoiding situations that may require an emergency response is a priority. 

Residents needing to report non-emergency storm issues, such as a blocked storm drain or debris blocking safe travel on a City street, should call the non-emergency dispatch line at (805) 237-6464. If it is an emergency, dial 9-1-1.  Storm updates will be provided as necessary on PRCity.com and official social media feeds.
