Current StatusWhile our curve is flattening, we cannot become complacent. In the absence of a COVID-19 vaccine, we need to make sure we take a methodical approach to rolling back any restrictions. The County will continue the Shelter at Home order and will assess the situation in another two weeks. Please continue the great work you are doing with physical distancing and Sheltering at Home. The Governor announced this week several key factors we need to assess before we can lift any public health orders. In the meantime, the County is working on a phased approach to modifying restrictions in coordination with the State to develop a workable, realistic plan to reopen our economy.

Small Business Administration Funding UpdateThe SBA announced it will not accept any more applications for the Paycheck Protection Program or the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)-COVID-19 related assistance program (including EIDL Advances) until more funding is appropriated by the Treasury.
Any EIDL and PPP applicants who have already submitted their applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
You will not have to re-apply if you have already submitted. As soon as we learn more, we will let you know. View the SBA notice here.

Unemployment Assistance ProgramsGovernor Newsom announced new initiatives to support California workers impacted by Covid-19: - Employment Development Department (EDD) will launch a new call center open 7 days a week from 8am to 8 pm and the Unemployment Insurance Branch will be upstaffed with 1,340 employees.
- Federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA). EDD will begin accepting applications for the PUA program on April 28th.
The PUA will provide federally funded benefits for certain individuals out of work or partially unemployed due to COVID-19.
This includes the self-employed, employees who lack sufficient work history, independent contractors and gig workers.
Benefits will be issued within 24-48 hours – not the traditional 21 days for regular unemployment claims.
- Disaster Relief Fund will provide a one-time cash benefit for undocumented Californians that are impacted by COVID-19 and ineligible for unemployment insurance benefits and disaster relief due to their immigration status.
