Splash pads are concrete areas with water features that kids can play in during hot weather. This idea was proposed by residents during the 8/11 Sherwood Block Party.

Create space for small or elderly dogs like at Vinyard Dog Park. Safe for smaller dogs and less stressful for big dog owners too.

Convert all or a portion of the tennis courts to outdoor soccer/futsal play spaces. Could use most of existing layout and infrastructure. This would be a perfect location for an outdoor soccer court...

Convert all or a portion of the tennis courts to outdoor soccer/futsal play spaces. Could use most of existing layout and infrastructure. This would be a perfect location for an outdoor soccer court. It would also serve the community very well if located at Sherwood park. Would be nice to have lights to play at night. Possible partner with national organization like Target or US Soccer federation for a grant. See link below. Could create year round leagues for both kids and adults, available for pickup games and a place for kids to develop their passion for soccer in a unstructured environment.

Impose a penalty to homeowners in areas bordering the park to provide city funding to keep their premises clean and respectable looking. The neighborhood from along Cedarwood Drive from Creston to Beechwood is rather "ghetto" and likely deters people from frequenting the parks. You can improve parks, but if the surrounding ares feel unsafe and unsanitary what difference will it make.

There are going to be major traffic problems on Scott, and Creston roads for use of Sherwood Park with the upgrades. Currently cars and trucks, bypass the speed bumps by driving to the extreme side of the road,. Not good. On the weekends when the park is being utilized the bike land on BOTH sides of Scott street are filled with cars, because there is a lack or poorly placed parking spaces. There MUST be accurately placed LIGHTING because after dark there are groups of drug users in the area. I have not seen but it has been posted on nextdoor that many families with children have found dirty needles in the playground area. I want the upgrade of Sherwood Park to be a success but city officials better be ready for the problems of congestion, poor lighting, accidents that could arise, if not done properly. BTW there is a business on Scott Street across from the dog park that has numerous cars parked along the street all the time. Very dangerous!
